THURSDAY MAY 3rd 2018, 8.30pm
A special screening of Revolution in Colour will take place in St. Patrick’s Hall (Corofin Community Hall) on Thursday May 3rd at 8.30 pm to mark the opening of this year’s Festival of Finn/Féile Finne. A once off permission has been granted to Cumann Staire is Dúchais Chora Finne to screen this unique film which uses newly colourised archival film of Ireland’s revolutionary years featuring 1916, the War of Independence and the tragic Civil War. The original footage was presented to the Irish Government in 1935 but because of the deep scars caused by the Civil War it was abandoned and never shown. Fortunately British Pathē kept the negatives and now under the expert direction of Martin Dwan and narrated by Downton Abbey’s Alan Leech Revolution in Colour depicts the tumultuous happenings of the period. Black and white distances the events from us but the sensitive addition of colour brings both events and characters to life and shows them as they were seen at the time.
This is a once off opportunity —- Don’t miss it !
