WORLD STONE THROWING CHAMPIONSHIP
SUNDAY MAY 5th 2024, 4.00pm
Corofin hosts the 23rd world series. Both men’s and ladies’ titles to be won so make sure to have a go. €5 entry per contestant.
Corofin, Co Clare has hosted the World Stone Throwing Championship since 2000. It is held in Bofeys Quinn’s Beer Garden on the Sunday of the May Bank Holiday Weekend. The competition was originally thought up over a pint by Comrac McConnell & Johnny Campbell. Monies collected will go towards the fund for the Parish Christmas lights.
The participants are challenged to break glass bottles placed on spikes. There is both a male and female trophy and the competition is fierce. It attracts people from all over the globe as can be seen from the Hall of Fame.
Cost of entry is €5 (for 5 stones), payable on the day. Over 18’s only.
